Kindergarten

with Ms. Christina ~ Class of 2023 - 2024

Dear Kindergarten Parents/Guardians,

Kindergarten is an exciting milestone in the life of a child.  Here at St. Athanasius Catholic Academy we are committed to developing a strong foundation for our students as they begin their journey through formal education. Our students interact in an environment where learning is fun and meaningful.

  • We recognize that children grow at varying rates
  • We support opportunities for individual growth
  • We stimulate social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • We allow children to learn through hands-on exploration of their physical world
  • We provide a creative and stimulating environment where every child is made to feel safe, secure, and important!

     -Half a Day ~ 8:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M.

Arrival and Dismissal:

      Arrival begins at 7:50 A.M.

-When it is outdoor line up the children will assemble in the school yard.  Once the bell is rung at 8:00 A.M., Kindergartners will line up in our spot. I will meet the children there every morning unless I’m on duty that week and I will be in the school yard at 7:50 A.M. with them.

**I know in the beginning it might be hard but during morning line up after the students are online, I do ask for parents to stand in the back, if you are staying for morning prayers. It does help the children to realize they are in “school mood” and it helps them to transition away from you.

-When it is indoor line up the children may enter in from the religious education door or by the front door, and they will walk to the classroom.  I will be standing in the hallway so I will see them as they are walking to our classroom.

     Dismissal is at 2:45 P.M.

Absences:   Parents are to call the office or email me the day their child’s absence. Absentees must bring a written excuse each time they are absent. Extended absences require a doctor’s note in addition to the parents note.

Pick Up from School:  If someone other than you is coming to pick up your child at the end of the day, please inform me. I will not release your child without authorized consent.

Uniforms:  Kindergarten children will be permitted to wear either the regular school uniform or the school  gym uniform.

**If your child wears the school uniform, they need to know how to button and zipper their pants and buckle their belt.  Student must be able to tie their own shoelaces, since they are still young I suggest velcro sneakers.

**Please note: Which ever uniform you decide to dress your child they must wear the appropriate shoes. (School Uniform = dress shoes; Gym Uniform =sneakers)

Clothing:  All coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, and other items belonging to your child must be labeled with your child’s name.

Money:  Any money sent to school should be placed in a sealed envelope that is clearly marked with your child’s name, amount, class and purpose of the money. If I should be collecting money for more than one event, the money for each event must be put into separate envelopes.

Snack-Plus & Mission Money: “Snack-Plus/Mission Money ” will be $10 a month.  This money is due the first week of each month.  Please place this in an envelope marked with your child’s name.  If you would like to send in this for the year it will be $100 cash only.  (This includes a snack every day, addition project fees and school-wide mission money donation)
